Tokyo Disney Sea!
Okay! So, yesterday, the 26th, I woke up at 5:20 AM, an ungodly early hour for a Sunday, so that I could be at Futamatagawa station in time to meet Samantha and her host sister at 6:20 AM. I made it in time, somehow, early in fact, because Samantha and Risa showed up a minute later. We caught the express to Yokohama, where we met Risa’s friend (whose name I do not know because I was too...

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
I liked it. I didn’t know if I would, ‘cause my dad liked it while my brother did not, and while my dad is a harsh critic, my brother sat with me through every minute of the book on tape, every time we listened to it all the way through (which we did several times). Not to mention, the fifth movie SUCKED, excuse my language. The best part of the fifth movie was Umbridge, and frankly,...

Harajuku + Shibuya = OMG!
You read me right. Not only did I go to Harajuku, but Shibuya too, IN THE SAME DAY. To put it bluntly, OH MY FREAKING GOD IT WAS THE GREATEST EXPERIENCE EVER. No kidding. So, I met Samantha at Futamatagawa station at around 11:00 AM, and from there we took the train to Yokohama station, where we picked up Taylor at “that good-smelling place”. Taylor and I had no idea how to get to...

My "Gokusen: The Movie" Review!
Oh yes, people. You read me right. After airing as a hugely popular television drama for THREE WHOLE SEASONS (only two of which I bothered to watch), Gokusen has FINALLY emerged as a two-hour box office movie! Hurrah! For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Gokusen drama, it’s the story of Yamaguchi Kumiko, the female heir to a Yakuza clan who holds no interest in taking up the...

School's Out
I totally miss school. Like, I don’t miss waking up early or the smelly, crowded morning train, but I miss SCHOOL. Yesterday (Thursday), I had a date with a bunch of friends to go take Purikura, so I met them at school, and I’d only been gone for a day but everybody FLIPPED. I walked with Ai-chan into the classroom and everybody screeched “EMMAAAAA!!” and I yelled...

Manga Stereotypes VS. Reality
This particular post shall be updated regularly, based on my discoveries: - Japanese girls do, in fact, confess their love on a regular basis. Guys do too, just more infrequently. - Japanese male and female students DO NOT TALK TO EACH OTHER IN SCHOOL. Seriously. (Kenta confirmed this. Crazy, right?) - Japanese girls are terrified of bugs. ALL bugs. This includes butterflies. - Japanese girls...

Gaijin Day!
I’m posting this a few days late, but that’s okay. :D So, last weekend at the temple/castle thing, all of us ryugakusei (more common word for gaijin, though I might have spelled it wrong) decided that we’d meet up the following Thursday for an afternoon of debauchery. Not really, but anyway, Thursday rolled around, and though our planning was iffy, we managed. For whatever...

Shogo + Birthday Wishes!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Okay, so. Volleyball guy. Today, I attended Volleyball Club practice after school, mostly so I could hang around and flaunt my skirt in front of him while showing off my albeit rusty volleyball skills. The first awesome thing that happened that afternoon was when Brian picked up a volleyball and said to me, “This one’s for you, Emma! Watch it hit the wall!”...

ONE GOOD THING
IMMA MEET HIRO SOON WHEEEEEE! He’s gonna come and surprise me after school one of these days. :3 And hopefully Tatsuya. Oyas. YOKOHAMA ROCKS, EVEN IF MY HOST FAMILY DOESN’T! <3 Oh also! That apparently attractive guy (as in I just last week discovered my attraction to him) in the Volleyball club blew me a kiss today. IT WAS AMAZING. Seriously, he was packing up his stuff after...

Frustration
Okay, look, host brother of mine named Keisuke. It’s one thing to be shy, and not look me in the eye when you talk, and barely talk at all to begin with. But it is ENTIRELY another thing to DELIBERATELY leave the room EVERY TIME I get home. SERIOUSLY, KID. I DON’T BITE. I DON’T HAVE TATTOOS A CRIMINAL RECORD. I DON’T HAVE A FREAKING KNIFE IN THE POCKET OF MY SKIRT....

Weekend Update
Saturday was lovely, I ate ramen with Chikae. NOW, SUNDAY. ALSO KNOWN AS TODAY. Sadly, I had to wake up early AGAIN for the YFU trip, but it was totally worth it. Kazuhiro and Yoshie drove Chikae and I to the meeting station in Odawara, where we met up with most people from last time, including AWESOME TALL PERSON COLIN, and a new face named Yoki Sekiguchi. -clears throat- Y’know how I love...

Second Week of School
I’m like, crazy bummed that I only have one more week of school. :< Seriously, school is my favorite part of Japan. My family is great and all, but… WAH. Plus, I found out Kenta likes me, so I’m like WOOO SELF ESTEEM. D; Sniff. So, I won’t give a full fledged INTENSE daily account like I did for the first week, but I’ll hilight the best parts of my week. :D For...

BBQ Fail
Not that I didn’t appreciate the gesture, but… Seriously, my family picked THE WORST DAY to arrange a BBQ. I had to wake up early on a Sunday, at like 6:30 for a 7:00 departure, and unlike every other day this week, it WASN’T sweltering hot. In fact, it was overcast, which, in most cases, I would have LOVED. Except not today. We drove for an hour only to reach our final...

Random Notes:
- Brian’s host brother’s name is actually YUTA. Kanno is the family name. >_> Shh. - I met Taylor’s host sister, Ami, who speaks perfect English, along with the rest of Taylor’s host family. Brian’s, too. D: - In Japan, I am size XL. FML. >__< - There are three student council cuties: One with long, face-encasing hair, one who’s tall with...

First Week Of School... YATTA!
First off, I CANNOT BELIEVE I MISSED OUT ON THE DEATH OF MICHAEL JACKSON. And Farrah Faucet (sp?), but omg. D: Yesterday morning, my host mom tried to explain to me that something had happened to his heart and he was in the hospital. I didn’t become aware of his death ‘til later in the afternoon, when Brian so bluntly informed me. Yeah. “Grandma, where were you when Michael...

First Day of (Japanese) School
GAH. I don’t know how to start. Well, yes, I do, it’s fairly obvious, but still. TODAY KICKED SERIOUS BUTT. I woke up pretty early, at like, 5:30-ish, showered, ate rice for breakfast (OOOH YEEEEAH), then called home to wish my dad a Happy Father’s Day. Yotchan left for school, followed swiftly by Kei-chan, who spoke all of one word to me all morning (he’s not a morning...

A Day With Yoshie
GREAT DAY YESTERDAY. I started the day with a chat with Luca on Skype, which was super fun. Then me and Yotchan went to the Nagasakiya, which is like a big department store, and we popped into the Pastel Variety shop, where I purchased a bunch of adorable pencils and erasers and a little charm, and some stickers. God, talk about a run-on sentence. But yeah, now my Japan Diary is full of 3D...

YATTA! :D
Oh my goodness, I finally figured it out. Well, actually, I finally asked to  use the computer. >.> Same difference! Anyway, I`m here! And if that apostrophe looked funny, it is because I am still figuring things out. >.> <.< But yeah. I arrived in Yokohama after a twelve hour flight, which was actually pretty fun, because all of the YFU kids just sort of hung out at the back of...

Tokyo
I’m flying out of San Jose today, to Tokyo, then off to Yokohama! I miss everybody already… :( Be sure to let me know what you want from Japan! And somebody PLEASE tell Hiro to call my Japanese home number: 81-45-391-6449! And tell him I’m staying in Asahi-ku, and attending Minato Sogo High School. >_> Friends, try to make sure all my other friends read this at some...

My Japanese Exchange Trip
So, here’s the deal. I’m travelling to Japan in two weeks, and I’ll be living there with a host family for around a month and a half. :D Sounds awesome, right? Anyway, the people at orientation today suggested I start a blog, specifically dedicated to the trip, so that I can update regularly without being too attached to home. :] So, friends, I’m hardly going to force you...
